Sunroof Mod?

Hey I've been looking around and cant find any thread about doing this: So isn't it annoying when you have to hold your sun roof button until the sun roof is fully closed? What if you could just touch it and it closes for you? Newer cars do this with windows and sunroofs but I've never seen this mod for a 3rd gen. Comment if you have any ideas or if anyone has done this before. :thanks:

I know someone has done this. It may be nelsonmd. I would like to try it myself, as yes, it is annoying.

You can use a timer which is triggered by the switch. When you touch the switch, it'll trigger the timer and will stop after a certain amount of time has expired. I just don't know how you would wire up a timer.

My previous 99' 4Runner had a different button setup that I thought was optional equipment, but later found out it was put in aftermarket.
The whole panel was different with little buttons with back lighting. One touch operation for open and close, plus automatic closer every time you turn off truck, with an override if you wanted it left open.
Was a very slick setup that I miss now.
Not sure if that explanation made sense;-)
Trying too find a photo & or info on where it was done, but only owned truck for a short while. It was put in by a specialty sunroof shop in Sacramento.

Anyone else have to push the switch twice to close it all the way? Push and hold once, it closes halfway and stops... Push and hold again, it closes...

Normal?

I agree. I like that it goes all the way back on its own, but having to go until half way then let go and hold again to close it all the way is very annoying. I'd like to see a mod that could change that.
Is the sunroof not controlled by computer?

Just be thankful you have a sunroof...

oh and yes it's annoying

Lawyers put it there and it's designed to prevent a squished finger since it gives you pause before all the way closing. It's very mildly annoying or I would'a done something about it along time ago.

Ugh, I have to do this but I have to press the window slightly up when it stops then continue to close it. Had quite the oh **** moment when I first tried to close it.
