sunroof not working in the heat?

anyone else had this? I've got a 19 TRD ORP. Today was the hottest day of the year so far, around 100. I had to go run some errands around 1pm. Mine is blacked out, so of course it gets hot. I usually hop in and start the A/C, but open the sunroof, tailgate, and two front windows to let the heat escape. Today I did the same, but when I went to close the sunroof, it stopped about 2 inches short of full closure and reversed to half open. Tried several times, kept doing it. Finally, I closed it again, but stopped it just before the point where it would reverse itself, drove for about 5 minutes, and then tried closing it again. It worked fine.

Repeated this whole scenario several times today, as I was in and out of the vehicle running errands. WTF? Only thing I can figure is that the heat was somehow triggering the "something's in the way of the window closing" action that all the 4runner windows do. (first time I found out it did that was on my dog's head. Whoops :sorry: )

Something was in the track (it doesn't take much at all) to make it stop. Whatever it was most likely blew out when you were driving and cleared it. This used to happen all the time with my TE.

Make sure you tracks are clean and lubed.

Sometimes the rubber seals can also get soft and sticky potentially catching the j protection.

As stated above it sounds like a track issue. I’ve had my 19 for over a year where it’s 100 by 9am and averages around 110-115 in the summer. Never had that issue.

nope. i checked the track. it was clean and greased. this also happened multiple times throughout the day and I checked the track each time. like clockwork: wouldn't close all the way after being parked in the sun, would park after I drove a couple minutes.
