Sunroof Question

Does anyone know if a sunroof from an 84 toyota truck will fit in to a 88 4runner? I figured it would but thought I would check to make sure.

yeah I thought so too, but you know how toyota changes small things like the dash from 86 to 87, but I guess I will wait and see, I got a killer deal on it from ebay $42 shipped!

If it is an OEM toyota roof, it will fit they are definitely the same!

yeah it is stock oem, the guy bought it and never put it in so it was a good deal! thanks for the responses!

yeah so I got that sunroof today and it doesn't fit! It came from a 84 truck and I assumed that they would be the same as the 4runner, but it is wider and longer then the sunroof for the 4runner. I guess I can always sell it, but I can't understand why they would be different?

It measures 36.5"x19.5" and the one in my 4runner is like 33"x17.5", could it be this was from an extra cab truck are they bigger?

I'm very surprised it doesn't fit. Does it have Toyota etched on the glass? The roof from my 1985 4runner fit in my 2001 Tacoma xtra cab. Maybe it's from a car or something? Or possibly 1984 sunroof's are all by themselves?

yeah I was suprised too, it has toyota etched on it and the made in japan sticer as well, its just too long and wide. I have seen other sun roofs for sale that are 84-88 for trucks and 4runners. i can get the numbers off of it and see if that helps, but I havent found a site that will recognize the part number?

Does it actually say Toyota on the glass? If it's OEM it will say Toyota etched into the glass with all the numbers. Is the handle the same as the original?

so I went out and looked for a part number on the sunroof that is currently in my 4runner and to my suprise it looks like an aftermarket sunroof that someone before me had put in. This explains why it doesnt fit. I am not sure what to do know, I don't know what else I need to install the new one or how involved it would be to do so. Has anyone else installed( cut out) a sunroof in their truck or 4runner?
