sunroof rattles

I have a 03 SR5 V8. The sunroof rattles (when opened) if I travel over some very slight rough section of the freeway. My other car (a 4 door sedan) does not.

The dealer already installed a updated sunroof fix, but it still rattles. I brought my 4runner back to the dealer. They told me it is normal. Does anyone have any luck fixing this type of problem. The weather is getting nicer. I will be using the sunroof a lot but I don't want the rattle to drive me crazy. Thanks.

tell them mine doesn't rattle on the freeway. I have an 03 limited. the dealer is BSing you.

There is a sunroof TSB that should fix it. Do a search on the forum and it should come up.

i had the same issue, with the same response fromt the dealer. the tsb does not fix it because it is a different problem. the problems with my runner was that the sunshade would vibrate when the sunroof was open, making a faint, but distinct noise that drove me nuts.

try pressing up on the sunshade when going over some rough stuff and see if the rattling stops. if so, then the fix is easy, install some felt noise dampening strips on the metal sunshade rack. let me know if this works.
