Sunroof rust, version 2.0

I've had multiple dealers tell me they would split the cost to replace, I have an '08 sr5 4x4, the sunroof is flaking apart, they said it was my fault for not keeping that area dry. I feel if we get enough pictures of multiple 4runners with same rust (which I've seen) they may be more likely to acknowledge and rectify the issue. Help me help you and please post pictures of rust accumulated around the glass on your sunroof.

Isnt there a 5 year unlimited miles body rust warranty?

What exactly is flaking? The paint/metal at the edges? I am an 2005 4runner with a sunroof, and 0 issue.

Do you live in an overly damp climate? (Pacific Northwest) I have heard that sometimes the drainage channels can become clogged via sap or dirt and I try to watch out for it. When I wash my truck, I check out up there to see how it is draining.

Rust warranty:
Rust-Through Coverage: 60 months/unlimited miles (corrosion perforation of sheet metal).

Not sure what they are considering rust. Perforation would seem to indicate "punching through"... as with most things, it is negotiable.

I feel like it's all semantics with them until the warranty runs out, they all said the same, about the drainage. it's a central Florida truck, humid, but not always in the elements, it's garaged at night. rust seems very premature. I will post pics of the "flaking" I'm talking about.

When we do the Tundra Campaigns for Rust, they have us inspect the frame for rust preforation of 10mm or larger before it is considered warrantable.

Flaking and surface rust is considered nominal.

That's one of the sorriest spins I've ever heard?? You're now suppose to keep your truck DRY...How do you do that?? Drive indoors all the time??

As to why it's rusting?? Could be poor design...or something was missed in the manufacturing process...Impossible to tell.

Interested in seeing pics. Have 08 with sunroof & use it all the time.
