Supercharger in mind?

Well i just got a 97 4runner and i love this thing so far. Anyways lets just say i have never built i SUV before, so before i take care of body work and other things i want to supercharge it but i like asking questions before i commit to anything (i did some research also) i guess if i get a TRD charger is it worth buying it in the long run for performance and power gains? I only ask because my friend has a Nissan xterra that i supercharged and its a dog. Thanks guys

How much research did you do?
There's plenty of pluses to it, but there are issues that you'd have putting a turbo or SC on any engine not designed for it.

Well i guess what I'm looking for is other peoples experience with a after market SC. Personally i think the 3.4L has plenty of power but its always nice to have more.
