Just wondering i any of you have experienced when stepping on the gas a bit, a lot of whine coming from the motor, like a weeeeeeeeee, almost like a blower?

the whine is normal ..that is the internal workings of the supercharger spooling up . It is when there is a clunking that you should worry..whine is fine. :)

True....BUT..... I don't believe he (or anyone else) has a supercharger installed on their 5th yet. I believe this is just under heavy acceleration. Personally I do not have that whine, well if I do I do not really notice it so :)

It's simply the turbocharger spooling up.
If only. Imagine the fuel economy and power boost?
Not to hijack the thread, but I wonder how hard it would be, and how much, to install an aftermarket turbo...

I remember back when I had a 3rd gen acouple guys did custom turbos, one being a twin turbo set up, and I remember it took like months and months to complete and was prob north of 10k to complete.

I just want damn TRD to build a S/C for us. I was in my buddies S/C cruiser the other day and want one so bad for my TE, but oh well.

I'm also experiencing the same problem. Motor whine's right around 60mph and quiets down at around 75mph. Not sure what it could be. I was told it could be the alternator, timing belt, PS pump, water pump, fan belts. Looks like I'm going to have to take it in and get it looked at. Although I do have a leak in my PS steering pump and I just filled it up with Lucas PS fluid with the stop leak and the noise died a little, but the noise is still very loud. Any thought's? Btw, I drive a 92 4runner with 200k miles. V6 (3.0) 4x4.

Ditto. They are dragging their asses over at TRD. Prototype already passed Cali emissions. They are running more quality tests prior to releasing it. If it fails the endurance test it gets shit canned.

Supercharger wine?

Personally, I prefer a nice Pinot Noir. Although too much does make my head whine the next day.

It's the transmission making the noise, not the engine.

Any idea what it is in the transmission? I was thinking pump. I flushed out my ATF for Amsoil fluid and it was super loud for 1k miles and still has an intermittent whine to it. It's gotten to the point that it's kind of annoying.

Why would you flush your transmission? Toyota doesn't recommend this as necessary. I'm in the same boat as 1engineer (shameless name drop :)), why try to second guess the engineers who designed the vehicle?

Not that I doubt you one bit, but anything to confirm this that you can show?
