Supercharger?

That's the exact same design as the TRD 2nd gen chargers. I would assume they would even sell nose cones and all that too.

Also great news for us that have superchargers, replacement parts will be around a whole lot longer now!

I picked up my equalized fuel injectors from LCE and they're great. They also carry the performance 380cc injectors for a measly little cost of $500 plus.

How crazy would I be to put one of these on a truck with 210k miles on it?

I just landed a new long term contract that's putting a substantial amount of disposable income in my pocket, and the thought of another 50Hp is pretty appealing. :hungry:

Why not? I wouldn't redline it all the time. Just upgrade the fuel pump, the injectors, open up the exhaust to relieve some back pressure, pick up a tuning kit and have fun. Forego the higher boost pulley. EDIT: Don't just "throw" it on there. Get your engine and transmission well prepared in advance.

I've got 320k on mine with the charger in my shop and new nose cone ready to bolt on. I'm porting and polishing the manifold first and upgrading the transmission valve body, headers, higher cc fuel injectors, fuel pump, t-stat, and tuning kit. It will be ready to go on next spring. All I'm looking for is the extra "umph" when needed.

EDIT: I don't recall who said it, either [MENTION=44220]BigFishAllDay[/MENTION] or [MENTION=53337]SCRunner12[/MENTION] but in the supercharger thread they likened it to a cheese pizza. Then came the toppings and everything begins to add up.

This is awesome news. Glad they're keeping up this option. I know plenty of folks who might want to get one.

So these superchargers a pretty much bolt on? Reading through some of the older posts and not seeing much mentioned about recommended changes needed to the fuel system. Is it recommended to replace or upgrade any parts of the fuel system?

Also, how much of a bad idea would it be to install one on a 5vz-fe with almost 200k miles (mine)?

Why? Explain. You would have to sell me on it. Just run with colder plugs, change before 30K and should be fine. Seems to work for everyone else. It's a matter of which way I want to go for my tuning.

Not crazy at all. My rig has had one for over 100,000 miles. If you follow that logic, my engine at 196k miles is not in as good of mechanical shape as yours at 210k, so it should be perfectly fine. Plus I know you stay on tip-top shape of your 4Runners maintenance from reading your stuff from other threads in the past so it's not like your engine is about to quit on you.

The HP output we get doesn't justify the high cost of a direct spark system like MSD or other manufacturers have. It'd be nice but you'll see much more HP increases from smaller pulley (more PSI), more fuel, etc.

My 4Runner has over 278k with the supercharger! Granted it's now sitting on its second engine in my rig now...

sorry for not responding sooner, not on here much accept for an occasional drive by. But yeah, a friend of my son who's a Toyota Factory rep mentioned it to him in passing. Kinda cool, but the price sure did not change, still an expensive mod.
