Supercharger

Since I am putting all this money into my runner after almost 11 years, I am contemplating the supercharger and boost gauge assembly. This would be a great time to hear reviews as of today versus existing threads that may have older reviews. Thanks.

I love my supercharger. The added power on the highway to pass people and manuever through traffic was a huge bonus. Gas milaege is roughly the same if not better actually because of the lift and 285's. I added the blower about 5-6 months ago at about 105k miles and haven't looked back since. The only downfall I could think of is having to pay for premium fuel, but I calculated some rough figures before installing it to weight the negatives and endded up being less then $1000 more for me throughout a year.

Thanks for that post. Can you tell me where you bought yours and price? I'm in the beginning stages of looking...

Most people get jealous once they hear of how much i paid. I actually bought mine used from a guy that lived about 15 mins from me for $250 I think.

The SCer is definitely fun. Search on customtacos someone is always selling theirs in the classifieds and they usually include the fuel mods for a good price. Personally I think the scer alone is a little weak, I have most of the fuel mods ready to bolt on I just need to get my valvebody upgraded so they can be installed. Whatever you do don't buy a brand new one for 2200.00, you can usually find them for a little less than that with all the fuel mods needed.

How many miles are on your truck? I personally wouldn't SC a high mileage engine without rebuilding it first. It's hard on an engine to have gone like 150-200K miles stock and then get SC'd all of a sudden. Not saying you shouldn't, but I would not personally on mine w/o a rebuild 1st.

The shop I use said 60k really is the max for installing, the dealership hasn't given any restriction but they prob want to make a sale.

I am probably going to do the supercharger sometime in the next year hopefully. If I was to do the upgrade properly I would get the URD fueling upgrade kit, transmission cooler(already done) and a valve body upgrade for the transmission. I was gonna do a compression test to make sure the seals are good before adding it.

You can just install the supercharger and call it a day, BUT to maximize power and reliability of the engine you would also need some way to get extra fuel whether it be bigger injectors or the URD 7th injector kit. With the extra fuel you need some way to help correct the ecu (AEM FIC, apexi SAFC, URD FTC, etc...) You would also want to have the transmission valve body upgraded eventually to handle the extra power. There's a lot more to doing it right with the supercharger then just slapping it on, but again it will run if you decided to just go that route.

Exactly, the trd supercharger was not thoroughly designed. The truck runs lean with it as it doesnt have any fuel mods. From my research I was going to add the 6 injector upgrade kit. URD says the 7th injector is better for the 99 and up.

Here is a link to a company that does the valve body:
IPT Modified Valve Body- Toyota 4 speed RWD and 4X4 *If you cannot find a shift kit for your a340 click here!*

All said I plan on about 3000. Used 2nd gen superchargers are about 1500 on ebay.

I have one for sale! I am asking 2500, it is brand new and comes with everything to drop in. I am also including a scooped hood and boost gauge!

Haddix,

I checked out that listing. It is too good to be true. Anyone who says they have a brand new in box super charger and is only asking $1200 has got to be pullin something funny. But, thank you for the link.
