Supercharging a Hilux Surf with a 5VZ-FE!

as some of you know i have a 2004 Hilux Surf with a 5VZ-FE engine,... and that's my biggest problem.

Everywhere i look on the internet i find TRD applications for that engine in the TACOMA or the 4.0L 4runner but nothing for the 3.4L Surf. I've been on the lookout for almost a year now and still nothing where i can just pick up a phone and order one.

Everyone i have spoken to has told me that the tacoma setup is identical but they are not 100% sure if there will be any issues with fitting that unit to the surf since they do not have the 3400 surf/4runner in their country.

Now i know alot about these vehicles and a friend already has a supercharger in his surf but it came like that from japan so i'm dead in the water since i don't want to buy a tacoma unit and find out that i forgot to order something (read my signature)

Anyone got any leads? ideally i'd like to buy it anywhere and have it shipped to my place in the UAE where i can always get it on one of my trips.

Is your 3.4 the same as our (US model) 1999-2002? I am pretty sure there was TRD Supercharger for US 3rd gen 4Runners. That might get you headed in the right direction. Good Luck! :cheers:
 
yup, same block (5VZ-FE), and it seems the same one is in the taco but what i can't seem to figure out is why they were discontinued and where i can find one now. have tried everywhere on the net and they all say they are discontinued.

i guess i'll have to try another source.

In all likelihood TRD didn't make them. Some other supplier probably did. That'd be my next step, figure who supplied them to TRD.

any idea if it was made in the US? according to all the sites i've checked out in japan, they all claim that these were "american items".

who are the big suppliers/manufacturers in the US perhaps that'll help me narrow my serach a little.

did the dealers in the US used to sell these units? any ieda who was the main/head dealer/supplier for TRD parts (like who handled warranty issues etc)?

I've got a tough week but I'll poke around and see what I find but it may be the weekend before i can really look...
 
The superchargers are made by eaton and the systems were packaged by magneson. These are still floating around on ebay.
