Surface Pro 3 - Anyone Else Try One?

Like the title says .. I recently went to the mall and played around with the surface pro 3.

The thing seemed very legit.

I was quite impressed. If I was looking to replace my MBA I would give serious consideration to it.

The biggest issue I see so far is that the glass is quite fragile and not replaceable. Although the Apple glass is also barely replaceable at any decent price BUT the MBA is much harder to break.

Still though it was pretty impressive.

I'd suggest anyone near a MS store to drop in and see for yourself.

Getting ready to replace laptop and tablet with Surface Pro3 for work. I don't run any models anymore and even the Pro2 is as good as most laptops.

Well I can't replace my $200 Nexus 7_2 with the Surface Pro 3.

My Nexus 7 is my car stereo HD-Blutooth MP3 library and at 7" fits nicely where it is mounted. The SP3 would never work for that purpose.

I could see it replacing my Macbook Air though if I had any good reason to do so.

The big advantage (to our company) is just clutter and peripherals. You have a laptop right? You have a monitor, keyboard, mouse and flash drives. In addition you have a tablet (for portability lol) that has now grown to have a keyboard, hookup to small projector, etc. Then you have a phone that does a bunch of stuff too.

The Surface Pro2 and 3 has enough horsepower to take the place of a laptop and with a dock or $30 hub now has enough ports to run what you have. You have the tablet for quick use at customers and power to crunch like a good laptop. Cost will be about the same for a laptop and cheap tablet as it would for the Pro3 and you get rid of redundant crap. For home use it would be a bit pricy but still a good solution.

No, but I have a 10 inch Windows tablet with on-screen keyboard (only) and I find it so incredibly useful -- just as it is -- that I'd be all over a Surface Pro if I needed a laptop.
