"Surging" from 20ish MPH to Freeway speeds

So as of late I have noticed that when I try to drive like a grandpa and accelerate from 20mph or so, to freeway speeds (60-70mph) at half throttle or less, my 4runner sounds/feels like it's losing power for less than a half second every couple seconds.

I am curious if anyone has had this problem?

After a quick search I found 15 threads about "surging" all of which were at idle. My idle is fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

It sounds like either you have a miss or your tranny is slipping depending on how you think of a "surge". Do the rpms go up when it surges, but the truck doesn't go any faster? Or does the tach jump around and it feels like power is momentarily being cut off and on?

Well, neither.

Honestly I myself do not FEEL it. My wife swears she does, but I can only hear it.

When I accelerate it will go...

VROOOOOOOoooOOOOOOOOOOooooMMM

Lower case O's being what I describe as the "surge".
