Ok, So i have gone through the earlier posts on this forum, read what was there on this, but still want to see if anyone has some ideas.
I have a 97 SR5 with the 3.4 and automatic, 246K. Truck runs smooth and well, but from 2k-3500 rpm, there is some surging/hesitation. It is not jerky, but rather smooth urging. The engine doesnt sound like it is suffering, or missing. Now, there are some things different than the other posts.
1. It only occurs in the first drive of the day when I get on the gas. After I drive the truck for 20 or so mins, it wont do it again for the rest of the day.
If i dont get on the pedal (say, merging onto the highway) I dont get hesitation at all. Only happens getting from 30-60 mph. Again, it isnt brutal. You notice it, but it isn't harsh.
2. With the stock muffler at 246k old, the truck had a little surge/hesitation that just started beginning january. I had a masterflow put on (which sounded like a goddamn panzer) and the truck had really noticeable hesitation anytime I got on the pedal. I took that out after two weeks and replaced it with an OEM muffler and pipe, direct for the model and year a week or so ago, and it has only hesitated today.
Plugs and wires new in Sept, Cleaned MAF and TB 3 weeks ago. aftermarket cat 1.5 years ago.
I have a new fuel filter, just need to put it in. But I am wondering if it is an O2 Sensor.....No one else seemed to have the clue about the exhaust like i did... Thing is, the truck isnt throwing a code.
Any Ideas? Thoughts? Anything is greatly appreciated.
