Alright guys

ill make this short and sweet. I have 3,000 bucks from taxes comin in and i want to purchase some new suspension components.

I don't think i need to spend the whole kitten cabootal. but i want something nice under my truck.

Im lookin at ICON and FOX.

I want some coilovers for the front maybe new UCA's if needed and just new shocks in the rear. i like my LC coils.

shoot me some of your guys's thoughts. My truck is more a pavement pounder/expedition vehicle right now and a weekend worrier. I live on a lot of back roads where the suspension really gets a work out, and i want something that will take the bumps like a champ. I plan to add a little weight in the front with a winch.

please shoot me some links also. greatly appreciated

thanks guys

So you are looking at a front coilover with a remote Resi? Lots of options there..

Just be aware that some places that sell them online sell them as single units.. so be aware if it explicitly says its a pair. Downsouth motorsports has some great prices and I think they have forum discounts, but Im not sure. EDIT: I know they do for tacomaworld, but not sure for us..

The ICON stage one kit they sell for the 96-04 tacos is a great deal, but you would need the rear shocks that go with 4runners instead of the tacoma ones.

With the UCA's, different brands use different joints.
Total chaos and Camburg, for example, use a uniball joint. Lots of range but I have heard they can make noise and wear out rather quickly.
Light racing brand UCAs use a Ball joint and look almost stock, but feature the added strength and adjustability.

So pick your poison on those..

I went through this decision process just recently. I wasn't enamored with the ride I was getting with my OME/5100 set-up and used it as an excuse to go bigger. I have a friend with an FJ on ICON's stage 5. The thing is unstoppable. I really like that they really tweak the suspension for each vehicle. From what I understand, ICON builds a progressive shock (stiff at slow speeds, softer at higher speeds) vs. King's digressive shock (soft at slower speeds, harder at high speeds). Since most of my driving is on pavement, I went with the King's. I can't compare them, since I haven't had ICON's on my ride, but I am very happy. I also chose to replace my UCA's at the same time. I went with a local company BuiltRight. Built Right is all 100% TIG welded 4130, whereas TC's are MIG. In all honesty, I know a lot of guys running them on their tacomas, and they were only $499, so I went with them.

I am 100% happy with my decision...but after spending $1500 bucks, I think I'd convince myself to be happy with either system.

That is good info, thanks!

all pro is one of the main suppliers for our rigs, they are not unheard of and have a fairly good rep as far as customer service goes, their products can be pick and choose when compared to others, that said their coil over package deal (which can also be bought directly from fox) looks to be quite good and makes it hard to go with anything else,.

with re-guards to what you linked to, that is made by fox so you don't need to worry about that, in my mind there's not really a bad choice between fox, icon, and king, when thinking about coil overs, it's a matter of preference and cost.

the upper a-arms are fairly common through out the board here, give it some time and i'm sure a few will pop in running the all pro a-arms.
i haven;t heard anything bad abount any of teh after market a-arms, i've just heard a few are better then others depending mainly on the tubing material used and type of balljoint at the top.

there's various threads on which ball joint and a-arm is the best, give it a search, that said, i don't really see any of them being terrible, just make sure you're looking at ones that have at least and extra 1-2 degrees of castor adjustment over stock, this is where we fall short in trying to align our lifted trucks and is the main purpose for even swapping out a-arms in the first place.
