suspension noise

i have a 06 SE 4x4 runner. i started noticing a metal-to-metal noise coming from my driver side suspension in march. it only comes on at low speed (less than 20 mph) while i'm going over bumps. i can also reproduce the noise by grabbing onto the luggage rack and shack the car real hard. it would come on once or twice a week for maybe a day or two and then goes away.

i brought it in to the dealer in march to get it fixed. they replaced some rubber part in the suspension and the noise went away for about 2 months. it's starting to come back again last week.

does anyone have similar problems?

i guess i am the only one with this problem. i searched online and found there was something related to this for 03 runners but was fixed. it has something to do with the rubber for the control arm...

hey. this other guy had the same problem as did i but i had mine fixed and i tiold him what it was:
its the sway bar likage that is broken

mine problem seems to be different. it only comes on at low speed (<20mph). the dealer changed out the rubber mount between the chassis and the control arm and it's gone for now. does anyone else have the similar problem?

I agree. It could very well be a shock. I just replaced a cracked strut on our Corolla and it was making the same noise. I could press down on the fender and hear the squeak, as well as when going over bumps or stopping at slower speeds.

04 4Runner Rattle Fixed!!!

I heard the same front-end rattle as others have mentioned on my 125,000 mile 04 4Runner. I brought it to the dealership, and they said the front shocks needed to be replaced. This was true since I could feel the difference after the shocks were replaced. However this did not fix the rattle. I went under the truck and bumped the sway bar near the rubber mounts with my wrist and heard the same sound I hear while driving! I brought the truck back to the dealership and had the sway bar rubber mounts replaced, and not only did the rattle go away, but somehow to my excitement the steering tightened like it was brand new! If you bump the swaybar hard with your hand (or use a rubber mallet) and hear the metal-on-metal noise similar to what you hear while driving, I recommend you have the sway bar rubber mounts replaced...you will drive off of the dealership lot feeling like you just bought a new truck! Very happy!
