Suspension Questions

Hey Everone,

I've kinda gotten the hang of the A/V stuff in the 4runner and now am moving on to suspension upgrades. However, I'm completely clueless when it comes to this stuff. I've done some research, but the more research I do the more confused I get.

I have a 2006 SR5 4WD. I'd like to to roll less in curves and be able to handle a little better overall. I wouldn't mind a more comfortable on road experience either.

I've read about the bilstein 5100s, fj coils, toytec coilovers, and am completely confused.

Here are my questions....

Can I just replace all 4 shocks with the bilstein 5100s and get the effect that I'm looking for?

What would coilovers add on top of the bilstein shocks?

If I get coilovers, are they for all 4 wheels or just the front?

When it comes to this you have many options! You can go with the Bilstein 5100's with the FJC springs or OME's. If you want to go top notch then go with the coilovers which should be for all 4 wheels. Coilovers are the priciest but well worth it if you do a good amount of off roading.

I went with the FJC TT springs/shocks combo and just a Daystar spacer for the front and also getting one for the rear. Right now is a cheaper lift and might upgrade in the future but right now it suits my needs.

I hope this helps and I am sure many of the other guys can provide more detailed info on this. I guess it comes down to two questions. How much do you offroad and how much are you wanting to spend?

I don't off road that frequently, and i'm still looking to stay within a budget. Maybe bilstein's with ome's may not be a bad idea. Thanks.

Yeah that is a great combo to go with. Check with CrimsonCountry on here and I that is the combo he is going with on his 4runner. He is a friend of mine and can help you more if you have questions about that combo!
