Suspension upgrade 101 question

I was watching a video 2015 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Off-Road First Drive: The XXL Boulder Basher [Video] - The Fast Lane Car on the TRD Pro and TRD product specialist Ted Moncure described the TRD Pro's suspension setup, "our lift also has increased wheel travel; that most after market suspension mods lack this increased wheel travel. It pulls the truck down rather than allowing the truck to remain separated and ride smoothly over." Is this accurate? He also stated that they use a lighter spring rate allows the bigger shock to do the work and the lighter spring rate to keep a nice comfortable ride. I am curious about this too?

In reading a lot of posts here about different suspension options I am wondering if there is a significant methodology difference between King Coilovers 2.5 and BP-51 suspension designs? Is King better for race application and the BP-51 better for carrying more weight geared towards overlanding application? Or are both companies' products relatively the same and you are buying based on marketing and brand allegiance?

I am still learning about the different suspension styles and one thing that the BP-51 lists in their features is bypass technology. I am fuzzy on this and wondering if Kings are a bypass technology too?

TIA
