Suspension upgrade/repair/replacement

All of the above. I have a 2005 Sport V8 Sport edition with the XREAS suspension, without the air lift on the rear. I looked today and one of my XREAS shocks is damp/leaking. I have found a set of 4x4 FJ Cruiser front and rear springs and Bilstein shocks for sale in Texas, the guy is checking on how much to ship to Sacramento. My question is this, will the springs and shocks fit into what I have on my truck or do I need anything else to make the change? Thanks for your wisdom....................Harold

They will bolt right in. You may have to remove the XREAS lines, but nothing else special. It's a direct swap. Expect to get .5-1" lift from them. While you're doing that, it'd be super easy to add a small spacer to finish leveling the rig out. This Toytec would be a nice addition, and it should leave the rig looking much better.

Just something else to think about. I'd recommend an alignment after the install of the FJ stuff, so this would be a great time to add the spacer. You can go bigger, but if I was gonna swap it out I'd at least add the Toytec spacer. I have the Toytec and FJ front springs, they should be installed tomorrow morning. It should be a great setup!

Thanks, I appreciate the info........I'm trying to get the springs and shocks from Texas, the guy selling them is trying to find the cheapest way to ship which I appreciate........I will be totally removing the XREAS system due to the leak. So, if I understand it correctly, the FJ springs will bolt right into the front end as a replacement......good. Again, thanks......Harold

Harold, I saw your post on FJ Cruiser looking for springs.

Find cnckart on there, he has a set he thinks will be coming off this weekend. He is in N. Utah, just like the guy I got mine from. Cost $29.93 to send the 57lb package via UPS to me in Sac.

I have a 2003 LTD V6 2WD that I'd like to change over to the FJ springs and Coil Over's

Will the FJ's Coil overs and rear springs/ shocks work in the 03' 2wd V6?

It seems that they will bolt right on but may need a spacer - is this correct?


I sure hope so for they are a great price for what I need.

Hey StreetHound I'm definately not the expert here but hopefully someone more wise that me will off some wisdom. I have the 05 Sport Edition. Had the XREAS. I removed that and installed the four shocks, four springs on my Runner. I did not require a spacer, I could have put one in the top of the strut if I wanted it to raise the vehicle higher. As far as I know, now spacer would be required and from what I've been told and have read, the FJ shocks/springs/and struts will bolt right into the TR4. You don't "have" to add the spacer. However, the 4runner sits low in the front, and the spacer helps level it out. If you're changing the springs, it wouldn't take 5 minutes extra to add the spacer on top. Very well worth it in my opinion. I was late getting it done, but my FJ springs and 1/2" Toytec spacer have been installed, love the setup. I have a thread in this section, should be on the first or second page, check it out if you haven't.
