suspension/wheels tires/confusion??

What's up everyone, I realize 90% of you are going to hate me for this thread. I just ordered a toytec ultimate 3" lift after doing much research on available options. I was set on an OME lift but after browsing the lift and tire thread I changed my mind! I'm also going to buy some pro comp 7031 in 17x9 with 4.75 BS and -6 offset along with nitto trail grapplers in 285/70/17. My question is should I expect any issues other than rubbing? I have seen quite a few threads mention the "toyota lean" lol, is this something I should worry about? Pretty new to this forum and toyotas in general, I've only had mine a year, its a 2008 SR5 4WD. It currently has general grabber at2's in 265/70/17 and clears them fine, thanks in advance for all your help!

Sounds like you'll do just fine with the Toytec lift. They're a good CO setup for not beating up on the wallet, ride well, and they'll adjust easily should you need to correct for the lean on the truck. The tires will fit, but rubbing issues require trimming that varies truck to truck, but you'll most likely be doing the body mount chop to get those new tires to work.

I run just over 3" front and 2" rear. 285-70-15 Nitto Terra Grapplers (AT). My wheels are 17x9 w/ -13 offset. I moved the fender liners forward, removed the mud-flaps and had the alignment tweaked to shift the wheels slightly forward. I have not done the body mount chop and have only rubbed on the body mount once before the alignment. I may still do it, but holding off until I rub the body mount a few more times.

I just installed the bilstein toytec 3" kit in mine last week. I used the super flex rear hd springs and I lean 1/2" down on the driver side rear. The front is level. It was the same with the Daystar spacer and from the factory. As far as the tires go I am running 285/65r18 trail grapplers on 18x9 fuel mavericks with 1mm backspacing. I had to trim some plastic but not the body mount. I did need the upper control arms to get my alignment correct. If you want any pics let me know

Seems like the toytec has a more level look to it. looked like the ome either had rake or "high nose" in all the pictures I saw depending on whether it had the top spacers or not. Also the general opinion I got from most was that the toytec handles smoother(less stiff?) Also this is the first truck I'm ever lifting! Hope all goes well.

How far off spec was your alignment? I'm having anxiety about not getting the control arms as part of my package .... hopefully she aligns well in the meantime, I'm sure for peace of mind I'll eventually buy them. A picture of your 4runner would be nice if you have the time, thanks.

I did not do a before and after of the alignment with the arms so I am not sure of exact numbers for you. I used the light racing arms and set the ball joints to add 2 degrees positive caster and wound up right at 3.2 degrees total caster and .02 positive camber which according to the hunter alignment machine is perfect. I had not used the arms with my Daystar spacer kit and the truck did not return to center like it should. With the arms it drives and handles like it did pre lift. I will grab a pic tomorrow and send it over. If it helps I found the arms on amazon for 408 plus tax with free shipping. I am very glad I did it.

Whichever you end up buying definitely buy from toytecs website. I placed my order yesterday and forked over the extra money to have 2 day shipping. Received a call today to let me know their shipping guy was off yesterday but they're going to overnight it so I'll still receive it by tomorrow! They also told me they didn't have the 5100's for the rear so they offered 5125's in place. Best customer service ever by far!

Your rig looks awesome! Thanks for the pictures, excited to have mine done on Friday. Wheels/tires won't be here till next week sometime, they said possibly Friday but I'm not gonna hold my breath. I'll post pictures when the lift is done.

I have a question. Lift looks great, drives great, aligned correctly. I currently run 265/70/17 general grabber at2's(brand new on the truck when I bought it). After the lift I can barely fit my finger between the tire and the upper control arm, I'd say about a half inch of clearance. I ordered some pro como 7031 17x9 -6offset 4.75 backspace and some nitto trail grappler 285/70/17. Will I clear the UCA or need spacers?
