i have a 2003 limited v8 apparently with the xreas suspension and 55k on it. the local shop was going to replace the front struts today but could not because they had never seen a strut with a hose comming out the end of it. when travelling at highway speeds i get a shake in the steering wheel and the steering wheel seems to feel lite in my hands. i also get the same feeling when cornering aggresively and i go over bumps. in your opinions could this be strut related? if i do need new struts do i need to replace the entire xreas system? if i take the system out does it need to be taken out entirely or just change the front out and leave the back in? thank you all for reading this post and thanks for any advise in advance.

i have the same problem as you. my truck bounces forever when i hit a bump plus very unstable at highway speeds. let me know what happens cause im gonna need to do the same

the shake in the steering wheel at highway speeds could also be a wheel alignment or unbalanced tire issue also. but if the mech said you need new struts,(are they leaking? whats his reasoning for them being shot?) then yes, you have to either replace all 4 with aftermarket, or replace the front xreas , which will cost more than going aftermarket. you do have fairly low mileage , so, id get a second opinion.
