So i am Sure this has been covered a million different times. However times change and new things come out. Heres what i got.
I have a 98 4runner with the expected Horrible rust. I'm Waiting on the Toyota Guy in Dallas Tx to find me a new donor frame. I am Project Manager for a Paint and Blast yard so i get the pleasure of getting whatever i want Blasted and Painted. Im going to get the Donor Frame Blasted and Zinced with a couple coats of Epoxy over it. The zinc alone will get me 50 Guaranteed rust free years.
I ordered a Complete set of Body armor for the Runner, Front back rock sliders, from Addicted. So i was thinking about going with the Tacoma SAS kit. But only because thats what ive seen.
Im not a Extreme Off roader or anything but going offroad camping is what i like.
I would LOVE to do a Build Thread on here but i dont even Facebook. Im verry computer savy just not into Social Media, So i have no idea how to go about that. Ive done quite a bit so far. I just finished my Fold out bed for the Drawer system and am working on finishing up The drawer system now. No clue how to post pics though....
Im open to all feedback. If this Thread doesnt get removed or whatever. Thanks Die Harders.

You say you dont hardcore offroad but want to do the most hardcore offroad modification you can. SAS is a lot of work, expensive and is not for a car that will be driven on the road much. If you dont mind than go for it. Best way to get a pure offroad rig setup is to SAS the front and lock her up.
 
And This is why i ask The experts! I took it to the beach this weekend(I hate Beach Sand)
But my wife LOVED It. Im more of a rock guy! We will use it for long road excursions being that there aren't many offroading options locally. And then off road camping. Trackin??
So SAS IS NOT a good idea for me.

I would think not, keeping it with IFS, good coilovers up front, some 33's and some LC coils out back. Gives good road manners, and will rock crawl and keep up with the SAS guys, even more so with a rear locker.

Pretty much, locks the rear diff so both tires spin at the same rotation and speed. Makes traction a lot better even when tires come off ground. With open diff you lose all traction when that happens. Some of these had stock rear electronic lockers. Front lockers can cause cv breakage so not for the faint of heart.

You need to do some major researching, so much info on here to read up on then ask any questions if you have not found answers.
 
Is the truck not from Texas originally? Seems odd for a Texas truck to have a rusted out frame.

If you're just doing some dirt road and beach driving, then even just refreshing the suspension with '99 tall coils and some fresh shocks will be a good option. OEM ride and handling, with a small lift. Throw on some decent A/T tires and call it good.

Check out the FAQ to catch up on maintenance (LBJ, timing belt, trans cooler, etc).
 
No its From NY.
And not as much beach as i would go Colorado back roading off the beaten path! Or in the desert mountains
