Here are some pics from last weekends camping trip to the Swan River forks outside of Breckenridge Colorado. We went up the upper fork and back down the middle fork. Absolutely great loop. These trails also connect with so many others including Red Cone via Webster Pass. Not very technical, stock friendly, Hardest part was one somewhat steep area with tennis to soccer ball size rocks. Just a little slippery and bumpy.

Inside of the cabin was stocked with basic supplies, lantern, cook stove, pot-belly stove, saw, firewood, cooler, camp chairs, etc, etc. I love Colorado folks, stuff doesn't get stolen. I want to snowshoe up to this cabin this winter and board back down!!

Mountain goat herd at the top. Hardly moved at all while we stopped right next to them. The kids loved it, so did I.

Rustic cabin on the way down the middle fork. Wouldn't sleep in this one, like the one at the top, but cool history.

This is great network of trails, can't wait to do them again!

Looks awesome! And I'd totally be down to hike up and board down that with you this winter. Find someone to watch those kids and lets do it!
 
I was just at that second cabin 2 weekends ago. There is a car buried on it's roof right across from it. That is on the trail that comes down from Radical Hill. These other trails you ran, are they off of 9? You have to go through the country club parking lot or something?
I'm actually trying to talk my girlfriend ino flying up here in 2 weekends and running Red Cone. Let me know if you are interested.:keyboard:

I started the trail up the north fork from Tiger Road. Heading south on hwy9 towards Breck, you turn left on Tiger road (there are signs for the golf course). At the "end" of tiger road, just before you cross a bridge, you take a left. When I came back down the middle fork, I actually end up coming from the side with the bridge.

These trails connect with a bunch of others, and get get you from breck to 285 or to montezuma.

Lefty Guns was talking about backcountry snowboarding in his post (in reference to my mention of wanting to snowshoe to the first cabin and ride down). But I am sure the offer to hit the trails is still a good one!!

I already did Red Cone once this year, and considering how many trails I have NOT done, I hate to do one twice in one year (even though that's a great trail). I would like to try Twin Cone off of the other side of 285. In one lifetime I don't know if I could hit all the colorado trails...but I am sure going to try!
