Swap Stock for Michelin LTX MS2?

I am going to pick up my 2011 TE this week and am considering swapping out the tires to get ready for the winter season. Has anyone used the Michelin LTZ MS2? I was thinking about the Nitto Terra Grappler AT, but was pointed towards the Michelins by NTB. I would like a tire with competent highway characteristics, good for snow/ice/rain and be able to do some off road travel and some beach exploration.

Congrats on the new ride. I can't comment on choices if you want an AT tire, but two of the more popular choices are the MS2s and the Revos. I was so torn between the two, that I never decided.

Now I've decided to use the OEM Dunlops in good weather, and have ordered black steelies and Blizzaks.

Congratulations on the ride. But my question is why does every new owner have to ask the tire question, there are already tons of threads on this topic.

JMO, but new tires do occasionally come out, so there may be new choices available that weren't around when old threads were current.

IMO, the LTX M/S2 is a fine tire for everything short of deep mud, or trails with lots of sharp rocks. Quiet on the highway, and good in snow, rain.

I had the Toyo Open Country AT's for about 40,000 miles. They are essentially the same tire as the Nitto Terra Grappler AT, with a slightly different tread pattern. Nitto is a subsidiary of Toyo. Anyway they were good tires, but not really any better anywhere than the LTX M/S's (original LTX M/S tires, not the M/S2's) they replaced.

On my 4Runner the LTX M/S's lasted 70,000 miles, and still had a ways to go to reach the wear bars. But their snow traction had degraded too much by that point to keep running them. If I lived were it didn't snow, they would have been fine to probably 90-100k miles.

Got them for my 2011 SR5

I'm having the dealer swap out the Dunlops for the MS/2. I have these on my 1997 F150 2WD which had terrible tires on them previously when I bought it used. After putting on the Michelins, I thought I was driving a different truck! Can't wait to see how they perform on the 4runner.
