Swapable 3rd gen seats?

Has anyone tried to see what other seats can be swapped into our 3rd gen 4Runners? I know some aftermarket seat like Mastercraft, PRP, and other can fit using the Tacoma mounts, but has anyone tried other Toyota seats? I ask because my blessed leather seats are nearing 300K of use and I’ve already swapped the seat bottoms around to wear the inside on the opposite side was great for about 150K. The Camry seats look close but I don’t know.

I saved the hassle and just swapped in some 3rd gen Cloth seats.. Couldn't be more happy with the decision.

Re upholstered is fine, but I had a hard time finding anyone that will do anything but CatSkinz. The CatSkinz upholstery is top shelf but at an install cost $1200-$1500 it covers seats, center console, and door panels. But was initially designed as a replacement over cloth as an upgrade.

Tempting, those do look really nice. I wonder how much work is involed with the leather kit requiring bull ring pliers?

Its not hard to do it yourself, you can always go to junkyard and get something close to practice removing and replacing the cover to see how hard it will be.

JayRolla, thats a great idea. I'll keep my eyes open for a buttery smooth set of leather seats which usually fetch $500-$800 on ebay + $150 shipping.

As for the ebay skins, I'll contact the company to see what tytpical results are for their $645 price tag. I know the tacoma seat aren't all that comfy but the 4Runner seats are great for long trips or at least I think.

Anyone ever tried the seats from a highlander? My mom has a 2000 highlander, unfortunately still in great shape or I would try it myself. But the highlander seats are nice, same electrical controls as my seats but with added heated seats. I miss those in cold winter days from when I use to drive it to school.

I don't mind recovering my existing seats but what I would really like is a way to lower the rails and move them further back.

Has anyone tried this?

I found a local upholstery guy who can recover the fronts for $300 ea. I'm going with marine vinyl in a similar color.....or may venture on the wild side and have a vinyl croc or ostrich center section.

Friend found some Recaro racing seats on craigslist for 900 bucks and put them in his 2nd gen they were comfortable
