Swapping 2011 front end to 2014?

Does anybody know if this is possible? Looking to swap the front end from a 2011 Limited to the more aggressive 2014 sr5/trail front end. Curious if anybody had looked into this and what parts would all be necessary. I am assuming bumper cover, head lights, fogs, grill at a minimum. Perhaps they changed the mounting points or integration between the parts for these items for the 14 and the whole topic is moot. Don't know but thought I would ask. Thanks for any info.

looks to me all you need is a shrockworks 2014 metal bumper and the 2014 headlights.. i believe the grill is the same dimensions and the hood and fenders line right up.. so if you plan on buying an aftermarket front bumper.. it's not that much more (whatever the headlights cost)
 
You are wanting to put a 2014 bumper/lights on your 2011? or 2011 front on your 2014??

I have a 2014 Bumper cover in white I would sell pretty inexpensive if you are doing what it sounds like you are doing...

I have an 11 Limited. Would like to put the 2014 front end on if all the mounts and everything works/bolts up and only requires 2014 headlights and some other minor parts.

that is one of my questions as well. will the fenders and hood all line up correctly from the 11 with the 2014 headlights. If it came down to needing to replace the fenders/hood also I would probably throw in the towel on this idea.

just looking at pics I was hoping it was just the geometry on the bottom of the headlights that was changed in 14 thus only requiring the front bumper cover change.

I was looking into this as well. 14' headlight looks very aggressive and appealing. It seems to be the fender is the same as the part number is the same. However, this is from an aftermarket product. Genuine Oem toyota haven't yet updated thier online catalog. I believe there are some inner parts of the bumper(air channel ) will be needed also which is very minor .

If it is a bolt together swap I don't think it would be that bad. I just did a quick search at one place and the headlights looked to be about 250 a piece new and the bumper cover was like 210. you would have a number little trim pieces/etc that I am sure could add up but if it would work how I am hoping it will the 2 major parts are the headlights/bumper cover.

As a side question does anybody know how the body panels come from toyota? Do you order a color or do just come in primer and need painted?

You'll also need the grill.

Bumper covers are usually sent unpainted. The grill for a 10-13 can be ordered from the dealer painted. This was about $150 when I bought mine.

Do you think it's worth about $1500 plus your time to do the swap?
 
Are you going for the trail edition front bumper cover (10-13)? If you are then it is important to remember that the body lines the connect from bumper cover to fender flares are different. Fender flares on 10-13 trail are smaller than all 2014 flares and body lines will not align. If you are looking at bumper cover for 10-13 sr5 or limited then they will match with your 2014 fender flares. If you check out

I am generally looking for little projects so the time aspect would be of little consequence. The thoughts of this swap started with me wanting HID headlights and has blossomed into this question, lol. The 14 headlights are projectors if I am not mistaken so I could do a simple HID bulb swap whereas my current headlights would need to be retrofit which sounds like it would cost from 800-1000 bucks for the parts and a spare set of headlights (would not open my originals). It would be cheaper to get 14 oem lights and the HID bulb kit than to retrofit and this is how I came to this (plus I do like the more agressive looking front).

My friend paints high end hot rods for a living so I could get the bumper painted for materials and bottle of crown. Perhaps I can track down a bumper off of one of you guys with the majority of the little trim parts if you have gone to a metal aftermarket bumper and save a little as well. I think the swap could be done for under 1500 maybe even closer to 1000 but I am most certainly inexperienced with this vehicle and could be wrong.

Problem is I still don't know if it is a direct swap or if it would require several modifications for mounting. My biggest fear is to start collecting the parts and find out it won't work.

You'd be better off having a retrofit done with your current headlights. HIDs in the stock 2014 projectors still glare and the output is still pretty poor compared to a proper retrofit with decent projectors

One more here looking to change his 2012 front end to a more aggressive 2014 front end.

where can I find the parts catalog to start piecing this mod together. Its of the same generation, Im sure its all going to work itself out.

can the factory mounts of an earlier 11-12 5th GEN T4R fit a later 14-15 T4R?
have the body mounts changed so much that they can't accommodate new lights, fairings, bumper, ETC?

I believe this is very possible with minor body changes.
 
im under the impression the leg work was done to prove its possible depending on budget and mod skills. I extensively researched this forum a couple years ago and my memory has faded but someone priced it out and I think mostly determined all the mounting would be achievable
