swapping rims and tires

I just purchased and 02 4 runner SR5.
I also own an 02 tacoma pre-runner quad cab.
the 4runner has 15 inch rims on it.
the tacoma has 16 inch rims, I was wondering if I can swap the rims and tires or if the 16 inch rims and tires won't fit correctly on the 4runner. Thanks

the tacoma tires are 265 70 16 (I don't know if it helps any)

if you are swapping the runner rims on to the taco, then good luck. pretty sure with the larger wheels, you get the larger brakes as well. as far as the taco wheels on to the runner, you are all set. the 02 runner only came with the 6cyl auto (if i have my facts straight), so gearing should not be an issue for the larger wheels and tires.

are u sure your 02 4runner had 15" wheels? I thought all 02's had 16" wheels.

Btw, both 4runner and taco for your specific years have the same wheel offset/backspacing so no worries there from my understanding. so you should be able swap em with no problems.

no, you could get 6 spoke (not steelies) 15 inchers on an 02.

why does the 15 inch wheel prevent larger tires??

you can get big tires for 15 inch rims easily.

lee, if you are talking to me about the wheels, what i am saying is that the larger tires on to the runner are fine. the brakes are smaller than the rim, so they will fit. however, the smaller rims on to the taco probably won't fit due to the larger brakes already on the taco from the factory. i am simply talking about wheel to brake size.

he can still get big tires on 15 inch rims...

the funny thing is, some people prefer the 15 inch steel rims, durability-wise.
