Swapping rims from 20" to 17"

Hi guys,

I'm purchasing a Limited Edition 2011 4Runner next week. It comes with 20" rims.

My previous car was a 2002 Nissan Xterra with 17" rims. Last year I purchased new snow tires for the Xterra.

What I'm wondering is, if the tires actually fit 17" rims designed for the 4Runner, can I actually change my rims from 20" to 17" in winter time, or is there an issue (like with the computer, odometer, etc.).

Realistically I don't really think I actually want the 20" rims on for the winter anyhow. Or maybe I'm wrong about that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What size are the snow tires?

The tire size on the SR5 is 265-70-17.

A number of members have swapped their LE 20" wheels over to SR or TE or FJ 17" wheels -- and vice versa.

Check the classified section - if there's nothing now, post up a swap, or a WTB, or check eBay - lotsa 17" Toyota wheels there.

won't affect the odometer if the overall tire diameter is the same.

I thought the post was pretty clear.

I'm asking about during the winter.

I have no intention of selling my 20s.

Thanks Philsey and Ryan_S, I'll check my old Xterra tires and see what the diameter is. Hopefully they're compatible and I can get some rims for them for the 4Runner. Would be a shame to give them away after 1 season.

Oh ok i miss read your post. Well Ill more than likely have a still have a set of SR5 wheels if your interested and theyll work for your application.
