Sway Bar End Link

Well I broke my drivers side sway bar end link today. Problem is on a 13 year old truck, with original connectors, the nut is rusted on to the bolt on the bar. It broke clean off on at the top of the link.

Looking for suggestions...do I take the entire sway bar off? I have seen some people on here who have done that.

Do I just buy the Over the Counter Repair Kit from Advanced for 18 bucks?

Do I take this opportunity while it is off to do any sort of upgrade to the front end that would cost less than say, 200-300 bucks?

I broke a link too a few days ago and took the whole sucker off. Much better IMO - rides a lot less stiff on road and soaks up the bumps with more travel off road too. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with it anymore because it made a lot of noise and I kept having to tighten it up and it was getting old.

Take it off first before you buy new parts and see how you like it. I will not be replacing mine since my only concern was whether my front tires would rub when it flexed and they don't, so it's staying off for good.

As far as spending $2-300, there isn't much to do down there in the sway bar area. I would just save about $6-700 and get a good OME lift.

If you can, just grind or cut off the end link and replace it, rusted bolts are common. Check the passenger side too while you're at it. End links are pretty cheap. Also check the sway bar bushings, I bet they are pretty well worn out too.

i broke and end link and just bought two and replaced both, (about $35-$40 I think for both) also replaced my sway bar bushings with greaseable ones from energy suspension, about $20

I am saving up for that suspension lift. You recommend OME? I found one on rocky-road.com for $728 for a full kit. 2-2.5 inches. Thats about what I'm looking for to do this summer.

See if that thing will fit in the garbage, that's the best place for it. Drive your truck like a truck and there won't be any problems. Call Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and he will get you set up right with an OME suspension for about $700.
