Sway bar hitting front skid brackets

I had to space my front skidplate about 1/4" from the frame to clear the relocated swaybar as on bumps it would hit the skid plate. I used some washers to space the skidplate.

You need to get spacers for the radiator supports too. In turn that will space out the front skid too and wont have any hitting issues. I would send you mine since my brakets are gone now with the Shrockworks skids but i threw them out.
If I recall just get some spacers that are the same thickness as the sway bar spacers.

I think the best fix is Shrockworks skids. Then you don't have to worry about it plus the added protection is great peace of mind.
The BudBuilts are good to put you need to space those out too so you wont have a flat belly. Hence the reason I went with the Shrockworks.
But the cheaper fix is six spacers for those pesky brakets.

What lift do you have? Having same problems with 3" lift
Thought maybe it was because my front skid took some hits and is dented in, but notice loud pop when swaybar moves but also popping when turning sharply. With 3" lift is there binding issues or just swaybar hitting the skid? Have 3" lift springs and Blistein shocks.

No need to buy expensive skids to solve the problem. You'll need to space the two support brackets as shown. IIRC they were just 1/4" thick washers. Mine came with the swaybar relocate kit that was included with the front c/o's but i'm sure you can get some thick washers from the local hardware store. Good luck!

See above. It's the swaybar contacting the radiator support brackets, space them as shown and you'll be good to go. :boink:

Yeah this is it. My problem is this is going to be a project. Whoever changed her oil one time stripped 2 of the nuts used for the skid plate. I have to find some new hardware and cut out the old nuts.

That is the problem with the Bud's, they still need those brakets. So if you use a sway bar with the relocates you got to use spacers on the brakets and there fore spacing the skid out too.

1/4" is a good place to start.

1/4 wasn't enough to clear mine so I went with 1/2. Worked perfect.

Thank you guys for the prompt reply, Seattle206 did you have to change the bolts since you added half inch washer?
Are the radiator support bolts center diameter the same as sway bar bolts? (Don't want to remove the radiator support bracket bolts to bring to the hardware store for refference to buy the washers)

How much gap are you getting on the driver side radiator support after installing your spacer(s)? I had to use 2 of the Icon thick washer/spacers which is about 3/8" total. I am only getting maybe about 1/4 " of a gap now between the sway bar and the driver side radiator support bracket now. My passenger side is fine so i did not put in any spacers. I have a 2016 TEP w/o KDSS.

Hi QJAKE. Super old thread and the photos are active. Do you still have a photo of your radiator bracket spacer? I’m rubbing and can’t figure this out.
