sway bar link help

well this is my first post, but as you can see i need to replace my sway bar link. i dont have the money to take it to the dealership to have it done there so i was thinking of doing it myself. so i have just a few questions.

1. how long should this take?
2. any info should i know before doing this?
3. do you know of any good how to's on doing this? (link?)

How about posting a pic of the link and where it goes?

Im assuming you mean the link between the strut and the sway bar on the front suspension. Youll need a 6mm allen wrench and a 14mm box end wrench. Shouldnt take too long so long as its not too rusted up.

If you stare at it for a minute, it should be pretty self-expainatory. Take the nuts off, remove, put new one in, tighten. Maybe 10 minutes including finding the right socket/wrench.

You might need a 15/16 crescent wrench too.

10 min if its not all siezed up..

you will need a 14mm a 17mm and a 6mm allen.. and a prybar

if you have an oxy/acet torch then just torch it off thats what i do..

ps. buy that ones at carquest there like 30 bucks

I didn't have any fuel for my torch so I used my wife's creme brulee torch. Worked like a charm. Start to finish in 40 minutes.

Just removed my sway bar links and reinstalled last night as part of a suspension installation that required relocating the sway bar. There was so much corrosion that the 6mm allen wrench wouldn't fit into the end of the bolt at first.

Sprayed it all down with penetrating oil and started with a 5.5mm wrench until it worked loose enough to use the 6. Used a crescent wrench. Eventually it all worked out just fine.

Everything takes longer on my rig than it should because the previous owner lived in upstate NY -- every nut and bolt on the thing is welded tight with corrosion.
