Sweet Hidden Winch Mount

I was doing some research on 2015 4runners and saw that there is a Hidden Winch mount available soon from Undercover HWMS.

I had this setup on my 2011 4runner and loved it.

I wonder if that Hawse fair lead was just photoshopped onto a '14 nose to show what it should look like when finished or if they modified the '10-'13 mount like someone here (apologies to the user, I forget their username) did with the BudBuilt mount.

I was thinking the exact same thing, the reflection and lighting don't seem to match. and there is also the fact that half the plate frame is missing...
 
$490?! for a bolt on winch plate, wow. check my build thread, I did my behind the bumper mount for $120.

They are available now on the site.

Also, looking at their facebook page I see they also have one for the tundra also. Here are the mounts in the raw with the title "Three hidden winch mounts out of powdercoat with a special textured finish. For 2014, 1-Tacoma,1-4Runner & 1-Tundra."

I was wondering that too, not just with this one but all the hidden mounts. I've assumed the solenoid needs relocated with these mounts but is there easy access to the clutch lever?

What about the front plate that some states insist on (VA)?

I run a BudBuilt on my '11. The entire lower grill is removed, and provides easy access to the freespool. I got some longer cables and relocated the contactor into the engine bay.

Intriguing option. Looks very solid. Curious as well how you get to the clutch. Feeling wallet getting lighter...

Including the cost of your welder and supplies? Would you build me one without charging your labor? I'll put $120 in the mail tomorrow if you can make me one that will fit the new 2014 Trail nose! If not, what's your point? I don't particularly want to invest in a welder, hood, wire or sticks to do the work.

I think it's great you have the means, know how and willingness to do this. But probably 95% of us considering buying one don't have those skills, facilities, or tools. I know I gave up on all three about 10 years ago when age and arthritis made me stop playing with my race cars. So we should turn our noses up at the professional shop who is trying to meet a need and make a little money? From this thread there is obviously at least a small market for this. Are you offering to fill that market at $120 a pop?

If so put me at the top of the list. Please!

the point is with a little ingenuity, a guy can put together a functional piece for a fraction of the cost that preforms just as well as anything you might buy.
but if you're content to throw away money needlessly, or too lazy to source components, then hey, is your prerogative to run out and spend nearly $500 on a winch plate.
the goal of attaching a winch substantially to the frame of a 4Runner is attainable, and you do not personally need to own a welding machine or have decades of fabrication experience to accomplish that goal.
 
Good question, thanks for asking.

When you pop the hood there is a plastic cover (about 7 inches worth) which separates the grill and the rad. On the drivers side we drilled an oval hole about the size of a grapefruit to provide access to the clutch. I can get my hand in there no problem and set it.

This picture is not my runner, but you can see the plastic part ferring (the hole we drilled in mine is 40cm to the right of the hood release catch)

Attaching the winch control wire blind is tricky though it's hard to get the pins to line up. I am strongly considering getting a wireless control which remains attached to the winch; any recommendations on that? Which is a WRAN 8000.
