Swimmerboy2112's Build Thread

Hey bro just some advice you should definitely lower that front end. The max amount of front suspension lift for our rigs is 3 inches, and you at 24.5 in front is way too high. That's around 4.5 inches lift in front and I'm guessing your ride is brutal right now. You'll be blowing through cv's like crazy and also putting way too much stress on other front end suspension components. Those eibachs are meant to be run on the bottom setting, but if you have the tundra 5100s w/ 5 settings I have heard of people running them on the second setting from the bottom. If you're worried about it looking funny I would get some different rear coils with less lift and lower the front. You will be glad you did because your alignment numbers will be much better, your cv's will be much happier, and you'll have a much better ride.

I don't want to admit you're right but I think you are. Damnit.

I'm curious to see how you like that set up. I'll soon have almost that same set up. I ordered some tundra 5100's a few weeks ago but they are still on back order everywhere. I'm sure you'll get your springs before I get my shocks.

Post some pics and measurements when you get them on. Been thinking of ditching my 8 wraps and stink bug look.

Ask and you shall receive! Hub to fender with 285's measures about 23.5" give or take. Front and rear are dead even. No sag, no rake.

I plan on getting it aligned sometime this week (although i'll be crazy busy), then I can see how I like things.

Looks great bud, and those numbers are nice. I have the same front setup, but I am not getting the same results. Even with spacers, I am eeking out only 22.5 on the driver's side and 23.5 on the passenger side. I am trying to work with toytec to see if maybe I just go some bum coils or what.

As coincidences would have it, I am running the same tires and size as well.

I don't mind the rake caused by the 8-wraps other than the effect that it has on my head lights... They point into the ground...

Haven't updated in a LONG time.

Got a new job and have been VERY busy with it.

For that I apologize.

As for an update I have over 1000mi on the swap and all is well.

As far as the lift goes, it is still squirrely. I believe it is due to the fact that the sway bars are still attached on factory height endlinks. I will disconnect the endlinks to see if anything changes.

Congrats on the new job. Hopefully that is a good thing.

That's great everything is working well. I'm pretty jealous of the 5 speed... and the supercharger.

Do you still have the taco? I noticed it isn't in your sig.

Don't feel too bad about updating. I think Ian has dropped off the face of the earth. I wonder if his 5vze swap ever got done.

Thanks for the congratulations! It's a big step forward for sure but the work load is insane!!! Oh well, comes with the territory I suppose...

The 5 Speed - Supercharger combo is pretty awesome! No regrets there.

I actually sold the Taco, didn't have a need for 3 cars and that was the one I used least. Put a good chunk of the cash in the bank and the rest went to the purchase of a mint 2007 Kawasaki KLR650 Dual Sport. LOVE that bike!

I'm surprised Ian dropped off, he was pretty gung-ho last I checked.
