Lots still to do...from making the T-handle to lock it down to skids on the brackets that hold the main pivot pins to mounting a small hand winch to raise the 150lb. tire/wheel combo. Though about adding dimple died gussets to the main structure, but I think it'll be too busy.

It's more dual purpose than dedicated roof rack. I've been up on it walking around, LOL.

Eventually, it's going to go down through the roof to an internal 8 point roll cage. The interior mounting plates on the roof (that was a b*tch) are already in place. I'm waiting to finish it until I install the dual cases so I can rip apart the dash and go through it at the A pillars as well as pull the carpet so I can weld in there without having to worry about sparking the carpet. It'll have a large bolt in/out X behind the rear seats (so if I need the cargo space I can remove it) and provisions to mount stuff inside like an OBA system, tool rack, etc.

I didn't want to eat up valuable head room with an interior cage but also wanted more rollover protection for the wheeling I plan to do. This seemed like something I'd never seen before...kind of a combo of an exo and interior cage and I'm not a big fan of exos.

I'm going to mount a single row 32" LED flood/spot light bar on the front beam just below the top of the bar so I can still put full 20' sticks of steel on the roof if I don't want to drag the trailer/tow rig down to the steel yard.

Probably can't tell from the pics but it's 1.5" tubing (mix of DOM and 4130 .120 wall) and while the two exterior tubes running longitudinally are bent to match the roof line, all of the interior ones are rolled tubing....with 1/8" of clearance to the roof top....super tight.

I'll probably post up more pics when it's actually done. I have a lot of plans for mounts/gussets that will take a considerable amount of time.

No. With the 37 on there, there isn't any room and the type of wheeling I do doesn't require that kind of range.

I highly doubt anyone would be interested in this exact design.

You likely can't tell from the pics, but the entire lower portion of the body below the body line (the part that's sheetmetal that is covered normally by the factory or a plate bumper) has been cut off completely and plated in so the bumper tucks way up under the body and gives a couple extra inches of clearance at that point....plus it puts more angle on the tube supports to the frame making the bending moment quite a bit higher theoretically. Also the rear door hatch has been trimmed and replated in as well. A rear crossmember, interior frame rail plating, etc. was also added to make this design work. I still need to gusset the upper double shear mounts, but as is.....with the 150# 37" tire/wheel up there....it doesn't shake at all. I bought the whole polyurethane body mount kit from Energy Suspension after reading the horror stories, but I don't think I'll actually need it.....money's spent though, so I"ll put it on before doing the interior cage work so if my 18 year old body mounts have sagged, it won't affect fit.

Obviously, I could make a different bumper that wouldn't require all that work, but generally speaking, if I'm building something for a customer.....I'm going to try to talk them into something that's going to give them the most clearance if they're actually looking to wheel the truck and most folks aren't comfortable with that level of customization....which is fine. Personal preference.

Nope....haven't worked on it in months. Doing a lot of home improvement projects and crazy busy at work. When I get home, I'm too tired to even think about going out to the shop.
