Other than hitch mounted units, you would have to make a hybrid tow hitch/swing out assembly to bolt to the factory tow hitch locations, which would require cutting of the bumper skin to fit effectively and at that point you might as well just go full metal bumper with all the fabrication and installation work needed.

The Hitch units are your best bet for a stock bumper.

I was thinking steel supports or something inside the bumper, I think that'd be a cool idea.
 
The issue is that the bumper you see, is not the bumper underneath. The bumper itself is just a cross piece to the frame rails. The factory Tow Hitch bolts to the bottom of the left and right frame rails and to a center section just above the actual tow hitch port to stabilize and tie the tow hitch to the frame (You can see this as the 4 square bolt pattern on many full metal rear bumpers.)

To add supports from the frame would require removal of the bumper skin for you to trim for the supports. Then you need to make it sturdy enough so that the swingout is stable, which essentially means you make a second bumper bar that extends infront of the physical bumper skin.

Like I said, its not impossible to do; but the hitch mounted one is at least reversible and doesn't require almost as much fabrication as building a new bumper. :)
 
I know somebody has done this exact thing. Sorry, I can't remember where I saw the thread, but it has to be on here, 120 or Expo. I think it was simple barstock across the back of the bumper with supports through the bumper cover into the frame or bumper. The unit turned out really nice and clean.
The original thread was a couple years old, if I remember correctly.
Sorry I don't have more info for you, but I'm just letting you know that some serious searching might turn it up.

lol, I'm pretty sure that started as a 4th gen tire carrier... I know he was building them for 4th gens several years ago when I first joined and 5th gens had just came out - Seabee's Tire Carrier - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum

I'm surprised he's building them for 5ths, said he quit because of military obligations
 
Has anyone tried the 4xinnovations bumper on our 4th gens?

The pin that holds the latch might be the tricky part but maybe it’s not that bad.. just cut thru the bumper and fab up a bracket to hold it in the right spot?

I wonder if there enough clearance on our 4th gen bumper for it to close properly?

Here’s another one I found from 80 percent off road
It retains the factory bumper but it’s about twice the price of 4x Innovations
