This is cross posted from the 4th gen forum.

Take a look below. One of the switch console manufacturers is releasing a new design. They’ve recently released this new bezel style (without the screw tabs on the long ends). They’re now coming out with this in blue. I’ve been talking to them for a while about coming out with a Toyota orange, but that’s not in the cards just now. If you’re interested in the blue, PM me. They’re going to make a handful available to us early. It’s an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

Looks cool, but where does it go?
 
I'm looking into purchasing one of these. Any idea if they will produce one that fits neatly into a single-DIN spot? More than color or anything else, that's my gripe.
 
Whoa $479 is a lot for a switch panel! Would look at alternatives from the public safety equipment guys. Feniex 4200 Mini comes to mind as one at about $99...

Not that I'm aware of. Those of us with double din radios don't have that to spare anyway.

It's actually cheaper than the SPod many seem to like.

It's much more than that. The main unit eliminates the need for relays, in many cases. The operation of each switch can be programmed for on, only on when engine is running, can have a strobe mode, etc.

It also has Bluetooth and there's an app for your phone.

When I install my lights, this is the unit I will be installing.

Agreed, the price is off putting. However, for some of us - me especially - the switch pro takes away a lot of technical wiring necessary that the Feniex and other public safety consoles require.

I would have loved to have the unit we use in our lifeguard trucks, but I was not going to do the wiring required.

At first I just couldn't justify the cost ($479) of this product. However, I did a little research and the product actually does quite a bit and it appears to be a bit more expensive than your typical DIY projects I've seen on this site and others.

Just for a comparison I decided to briefly total up my cost to wire my own switches on this side of the firewall. Keep in mind it doesn't include any of the "high" voltage wiring (relays, and fuses) on the other side of the firewall.

Here's a snapshot for just six switches
  • 18 AWG Wire Ancor Marine Grade tinned Copper (8 spools; Red, Black and color coded) - $20 ea $80
  • 30 Ancor Marine Quality Connectors - ?? (I have tons of these)
  • 6 Contura SPST switches w/rockers - $20ea $120
  • Piece of Heat shrink
  • Two ft - solid piece of braided Cable sleeve - ~$10
  • One 8-pin Deutsch Connector - $20
  • One Paranoid Fabrications switch panel for six switches - $20

Now start adding on the SPDT Hella Relays and Relay Connectors, etc
  • Relays - $7ea $42
  • Relay connectors - $11.5 $69
  • Blue Sea System 5026 Fuse Box - ~$40
  • Terminal Blocks - $10 ea $20

By the time you're finished with your switches you've actually ran up the expenses.

Total cost to build it yourself = Around $421. That's not a huge savings when you look at what this product has to offer.

I'm already deep into my own switches (plus I enjoy making things myself) but it's something to consider when you actually break down the cost of doing it all yourself.

Good point. A lot of times guys don't realize how much they have into a DIY.

And another thing- not many guys can DIY something that looks factory^^^. Super nice looking job there!
