I'm considering selling my 01 and buying a 99 with the rear e-locker and a sonoran 1.2 lift. I would come out about 2500 ahead on the deal, but the 99 has about 40k more miles (125k vs 85k). Can I get some opinions please?
Switch my 01 for a 99?

id do it! just think if u haven't done your waterpump of TB then thats another grand, but i take it he has, so it saves you a bit in the long run...

I agree with the others. If the timing belt has been done, then go for it. That is a nice lift. Are the tires in the same shape on both vehicles? Are they both the same trim?

The tires aren't a huge concern as I'm going to swap my rims over if i buy it, so i'd be able to choose which tires I kept. They are both limiteds, although my 01 is in pretty outstanding condition aesthetically, but thats about 25% of my concern vs mechanical condition, so I still need to delve into that a little bit more if everything else looks like it could be a good buy.
the only thing i'm not wild about is the 3.5" lift in the rear. i'd be more satisfied with 2.5 rear, 2 front...i plan to keep the tires at 265/75/16 for the foreseeable future and i just don't like the enormous amount of gap in the wheel well- that plus the race car slant you get from an extra 1.5" in the rear vs the front.

what about the taxes involved- i forgot that i'll have to pay 8-900 in taxes when i buy this other one. Is there any way around that? Maybe I could convince them to give me theirs plus 2500 in exchange for mine? would i still have to pay taxes that way? It doesn't look so appealing when i factor in taxes- then I'm only ahead about 1500 plus the upgrades. to me, 40k miles could be worth 2-3k so maybe they're about equal?
