Switch Question

I'm planning on doing the Andy MOD on my 01 SR5. I have this switch and understand that I need to use a relay with it.




This switch is currently an off/on switch. The switch is always off unless you press the button. When the button is pressed, the switch is on. No current passes through the switch until the button is pressed. I'm trying to find a relay that will switch the polarity on the switch. There was a thread on here about it, but the OP doesn't respond to PM's or posts.

a 5 pin relay should do that. I don't remember the details, but one output is a ground when switched, and the other is a power(when switched). you should be able to make that work.

Any ideas where to start looking for this? I know I can wire it up with no issues, just don't know what I'm looking for.

yeh, just a standard 5 pin relay. I believe they are all the same.

any part store should be able to get what you need.

I'll see what I can come up with. You wouldn't know the proper wiring would you?

I've looked around on there a little, and think I'm heading in the right direction.

I double checked your first post and I was correct. That "TRAC OFF" switch you were using originally is designed to be an OPEN circuit (no current passes through the connections until you press the button and CLOSE the circuit then current passes through the circuit). In order to do the Andy mod you need the circuit to be CLOSED for normal operation of the vehicle (VSC and TRAC ENABLED). The TRAC OFF switch you have will basically ALWAYS be OPEN (TRAC and VSC DISABLED) until you push it and it CLOSES the circuit. The problem with this type of switch is that it is reverse of what we need to maintain normal operation of the VSC and TRAC systems. In order for normal operation we need the circuit to ALWAYS be CLOSED until we decide to DISABLE the VSC and TRAC systems, which is where we OPEN the circuit and cause a fault (disrupt the ground) turning off the VSC and TRAC systems. If the TRAC off switch was the opposite way, normally CLOSED then when pushed OPEN then the switch could be wired without any issue, but thats not the case. Does this clear things up?
