Switch the car chargers to USB chargers, anyone?

Cheap USB chargers are a great way to have a car fire, at least get one made by aukey or a name brand

These are still not compact enough - they stick out just enough to prevent the cover from closing fully and leaving it half-opened at a weird 15° angle.

I'm not in the back seat often, but if I recall correctly, I have NO ports back there at all. no 12v, no 110v, no USB no nothing.

Cargo area has a couple of ports.....110v and 12v I believe. It just easier to get some adapters and 10 foot cords and keep them ready for passengers that can't handle their juice properly.

Buy a 3rd row and problem solved! Power in your back seat!

High speed cell charging is evolving. Hard wire USB does not make sense to me.

Oh I wouldn't replace an existing one, I would just drill a new hole and mount a new power port.

I understood the OP to install a hardwired USB charge port. Installing a standard 12v outlet would be more future proof.

The definition and ability of high speed cell phone charging continues to evolve. This applies to Android and (I think) Apple. Quick charging depends on the phone, cable and wall wort. Works best when everything is the recommended version. Some Android have high speed wireless charging too. I think current Apple devices only have standard wireless charging so far.

Hard wiring today's standards means obsolescence very soon.

Yep, My gf has one in her Subaru that we got as a giveaway at a hockey game and it works for us both to charge our phones, no complaints
