Switching Oils

I just recently purchased my car and I'm pretty sure it's not using Synthetic. I plan on switching to Synthetic Mobile 1 on my next oil change. I'm on 43000 miles now. Would it be alright to switch oil types?

no issues just use the recommended oil type.

i personally think it's a waste of $ to use synthetic if toyota doesn't require it. just make sure you're swapping with fresh at the recommended interval range. i do mine ever 5K new oil/filter OEM.

Sure it would be alright. With the 5K OCI to stay in warranty you could easily get by with dino(say Mobil Clean 5000 for <$2/qt, great oil!), a good syn like M1 will last 10K in our V8's. FWIW Im using M1 5W-30 and will switch to 0W-30 in about 4K miles I think. Another great oil is Pennzoil Platinum which you can get for $1/qt after rebate.
