Switching to manual hub ?

Hello,
I am the new owner of this 2nd generation (1993) 4Runner.
She came with a lot of documented rebuild on her - engine, clutch, etc but I have found a set of the factory manual hubs with all the hardware and wanted to ask if there is anything else I will need to do the conversion?

I am still looking for the factory manuals as my rear door window key does not respond to either turning it left or right. The window stays up, but the switch on the center console works fine.
Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

IFS manual hubs bolt right on. 15 minute job. I do recommend eliminating the ADD at the same time.

Agreed! It was the first thing I changed when I bought my 4runner. By first thing, I mean within the first 8 hours.

Hopefully not hijacking, but why would one want to remove the add?

As for the rear window, it is possibly the switch at the end of the key cylinder. It is not an easily serviceable part. Mine only goes down. Pain in the ass.

How do I eliminate the ADD system, Is that something in the transfer case? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Paul

GOOGLE it, there is plenty of info on how to do that.
And remember you need hubs from an IFS truck (86+).

You would remove the ADD for simplicitys sake. you get rid of one more moving part.

The ADD is part of the front diff. Your changing out the axle tube on the drivers side of the front diff. The ADD one has an extra slide collar in it and some vac lines.

The only reason to leave it is because it adds front diff fluid capisity, You can also lock the slide collar in place to get rid of the vac lines and keep the added fluid capacity.

Do you know the part number for the key cylinder? I believe switching out the hubs and the ADD feature will improve gas milage.
I found a set of original hubs in great condition with the all the hardware cheap, but had no clue about also removing the ADD feature - this is what I love about this site:happy

You won't really see a MPG difference, however it is better not to have the cv shafts constantly tuning when not in 4wd. Plus manual hubs won't unlock on you in reverse.
