Sylvania or Xenon?

I really want to change to a brighter headlight on the new ride, but don't know what lights are good. I have seen different reviews on the sylvania silver stars but that is about all I could find. Does anyone know anything about the Xenon HID 7000K Super White bulbs? I have found many of these for auction on Ebay for pretty cheap and was wondering if they were any good.
Thanks for the help.

I would stick to a name brand bulb near the stock wattage. Sylvania, PIAA, Polarg.

Some members have modified a high beam bulb to fit the low beam housing.

I've seen cheap bulbs melt, expand, and break in the housing. Not fun to deal with.

RAZO

Sylvania silverstars are a joke. Don't go with those "7000k" bulbs either. they wont last long and the color isn't what you'll expect. RAZO makes bulbs in the 4thgen size (9006 or HB4) that are really nice. they're called "Premium White Zeros." They're normally like $80 but i got a pair on ebay for $8 with shipping through dealtree. They're the brightest/bluest bulbs i've seen with stock wattage. If you want, you can get the PIAAs. they make a bulb called SPARK BLUE. Those are really nice, but expensive. But just dont get the generic ones. I went through, lightglow, eurodezigns, generic japanese import ones, none of them are that great. but the RAZOs...wow. Just remember to get ones that are stock wattage so you dont melt your harnesses. Go on ebay and search "RAZO hb4" and remember to get the BG606 color because BG607 is royal white, and you dont want that. Premium white zero is way better. Ok i'll stop talking now.

I got the Ravo's for .99 with 5.00 shipping

I went ahead and got 3 sets while I was at it. This mod seems to basically be a plug and play right?

after dealing with Silverstars. I just missed true HID's too much and opted to get a kit from XenonDepot. It's kinda pricey, but definitely better than any bulb you snap in.

Once you have real HID's it's hard to go back, even with "super white" halogen bulbs.

SILVER STAR BULBS

I WAS ONE OF THE POOR UNSUSPECTING SOULS THAT FELL FOR THE NAME SYLVANIA THINKING THE NAME WOULD BE QUALITY AND VALUE ! I PURCHASED A PAIR OF SILVER STARS PUT THE IN AND NOTICED A IMPROVEMENT IN THE VISIBILITY . 364 DAYS LATER ONE BURNT OUT ! SO , I DECIDED TO CONTACT SYLVANIA THINKING THAT IF THEY DIDNT HEAR THEY WOULDN'T KNOW OF MY DISATIFACTION. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT "YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE PURCHASED A HIGH PERFORMANCE PRODUCT AND WITH THAT IN MIND YOU MUST MAKE A COMRIMISE IN LONGEVITY. SYLVANIA WENT ON TO SAY THAT THE LIFE OF THE BULBS THAT I HAVE HAD IS THE NORMAL LIFE OF THEIR SILVER STAR BULBS AND THAT I SHOULD BE VARY GLAD OF THAT !
SO , WITH THAT IN MIND BEFORE SHELLING OUT THE MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE THINKING IS WORTH IT, YOU MAY WANT TO THINK TWICE !
I KNOW THAT THIS IS ONLY MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE SILVER STAR BULBS , BUT TO KNOW THAT THE COMPANY DOES NOT REALLY THINK THAT THEIR BULBS ARE ANY BETTER THAN THAT IS SAD AND A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY , IN MY OPINION !

great choice with the razos. you will love them. I hope you remembered to get BG606.

I was checking ebay for "RAZO hb4 BG606"
Looking at the general descriptions it says
"RAZO HB4 BG606 55w Blue Tint Royal White Headlight Bulb 2-PACK "
All of the general descriptions said "Blue Tint Royal White..."
You suggested to go with Premium white.

What is "hb4"?

How do I know what size I am getting when placing a bid? I know I need 4 - 9006 for low beam and fog lights and 2 - 9005 for high beam.

Thanks for the Help!

It says royal white in the picture. but if you click on the picture that will link you to the larger picture on the dealtree website, it says premium white zero. the ebay posted picture is wrong; so is the description lol. so just make sure that the model is BG 606 which indicates premium white zero. I ordered 2 sets already. BG 606=premium white zero. HB4 is equivalent to 9006 (4th gen 4runner bulbs)--i think it's just a fancy japanese spec term.

I was happy with my eurodezigns, one of the lows burned out after about a year tho. New set should be here this week.

Sounds like Razo's are the ones to get. I have a few questions:

OK - without sounding too much like an old man - Are the Razo's street legal?

It's not uncommon for very hot bulbs to "char" the inside of theheadlight housing - did you have any problems with this?

Well I ordered 'RAZO hb4 BG606' on ebay. paid $10.50 (this includes shipping). Pretty cheap, once I get them I will let you guys know what I think.

Just keep in mind... ANY aftermarket light will basically give you "whiter" light over stock. Its when you compare them with each you will notice the difference between the different designs.

I chose NOT to go with razo or whatever companies make the "blue hid look" lights because quite frankly, I do not want "ricey lights."

On Silverstars -- I put a set in my truck. Big difference in night driving. Its a whiter light as far as any distance improvement
maybe some.

But offers allot better night visibility for me. Also have a
C-5 Corvette and the stock lights were terrible. Ordered some
Pia's through the vette forum and were no better than stock.
So put in some Silverstars and did notice a improvement.
There could be a range of Silverstars models, just ordered
what some were recommending.

Can't say anything about the life spand since only a few months
on both cars.

Also can't say what the color tint is as to front view. Blue or
white.

Sounds like the Razo's are better

so with a 98' which one would i be looking for? i have the siver stars now and i am currently happy with those but couldnt hurt to go brighter for that price, my sylvanias were $40

I purchased the Sylvania bulbs and have the Xenon on another vehicle(wifes)-the Sylvania's are almost as white - but are not as bright. They are, however, brighter then anything elsethat is street legal and will not char the inside of your housing nor will they melt the wires.
