anyone have any experience with ultra? i've been using the regular silverstar for past 3 years and have been pretty happy with them.

I have a pair but I'm still waiting for one of my regular Silverstars to give up the ghost and it's been 3 years on my set.

I had Silverstar H3s in my fogs but while they were an improvement at night in the dry they didn't do much to help in the wet so I went with Optilux Yellowstars and that solved that problem and for $15 cheaper than a set of Silvers.

I wen't through 1.5 paif of silverstars before wising up an going with an OEM toyota HID kit.

People go through Silverstars qucikly if you are using DLRs and I wouldn't recommend them for trucks with 'em. They aren't for running all the time.

Plus alot of people unkowingly may touch or even brush the bulbs with their fingers during installation and even a very small dot of skin oil can cause any bulbs to fail prematurely but Silverstars seem pretty touchy.
I always use non-powdered latex gloves when I'm handling headlamp bulbs as a extra precaution.

DLRs are the biggest reason Silverstars don't seem to last but they will last if DLRs are disabled and I've will be officially over 3 years on mine in Feb.

Ok,my driver's side Silverstar gave up the ghost one month short of 3 years so I got around to installing the Ultras and there is definelty an imrpovement in the white color and more brighter all around. unfortunatly I didn't get a side by side comparo pic since it was day but I'll get around to swapping in the old bulb and get a pic at night.

Here's a shot from this morning but pics don't do lights justice and I'll get some dark nights shots showing beam pattern in the next week.

They do have the best color for a non-HID bulb. Too bad they can't last as long as a regular bulb.
