Sylvania Silverstars

Just to let everyone know, the Silver Stars only have a life expectency of 1-1 1/2 years. On another board I belong too and many of my friends have installed the Silver Stars and they have burned out under a year.

Just let everyone beware of this, especially since the new 4Runners have Day Time Running Lights.

DRL's are actually the amber turn signal lamps constantly lit and not the headlamps.

The quality of light from the Silverstars far exceeds the OEM Sylvania standard bulbs.

Cheap knock offs of Sylvania Silverstars do tend to burn out quickly, however I've yet to replace a Silverstar in any vehicle I've installed them in due to failure.

Even if they did last a year and a half, being able to see better at night is not a luxury. It's safer and less tiring on the eyes.

For $25 dollars a bulb and having to replace them every 8-10 months, no thank you.

And these would not be cheap knock offs. Meijers, Walmart and Canadian Tire carry the US Version of Silver Stars.

Here are the threads I am talking about:

This is from personal experience, they are nice while they last, but too expensive to keep on buying them.

I would rather run Hella Bulbs which are DOT Approved.
