Symptoms of Timing Chain

Hi,
Supposedly, the previous owner replaced the timing chain in my '87 22re about 80k miles ago.
What kind of symptoms should I watch/listen for indicating I need to replace the chain? The vehicle has 278,000miles so far and runs well.

best way to tell, take off your valve cover, 4 nuts and 3 other bolts that hold misc vaccuums and wires and 2 vaccuum hoses, push on the driver side of the chain and if it has excessive play it will need changed. should be a little loose but not alot. also if you dont see the guides sticking up next to the chain you should prob go ahead and change it, make sure you drop the oil pan if casing or guides get chewed so you dont clog and eventually ruin your motor
