Synthetic 10W-30 or 5W-50?

I don't know if my local dealer have a "technical reason" for use 5w-50, I think not, this is the reason why I ask the experts your opinion in the forum

I did 2 oil change with castrol syntec 5w-50 oil (3500 miles and 7500 miles ) I will do the next oil change with castrol synthetic 10w-30.

I would like send to you some gas; but is really difficult . The price of gas in US is really High at this moment.

For me the main factor for use especific grade oil is the best protection to the engine.

It sounds like 10w30 is the right choice for you. On the gas thing I guess it is hard to ship, something about HAZMAT

Another good thing about 10w-30 is that Toyota has to stand by the powertrain warranty after you move. This particular dealer may honor the warrnty as they were the ones using 5w-50 but another dealer may just say you were using the wrong oil, sorry!. Your owners guide say 5w-30 but if not availible 10w-30 is ok. So if I were you it'd be 10w-30.

I say go with 10w-30. Originally, the 4.0 V6 (if you have the same gasoline engine as the US models) Toyota recommended 5w-30. I believe it was April 2006 Toyota issued a notice that a lot of their engines are perfectly fine to run 5w-20 and that would be the factory fill going foward on their new cars.

If I remember correctly, my manual has a blurb in there saying if 5w-30 is not available, it's ok to use 10w-30. But switch back to 5w-30 on the next oil change.
