Synthetic Differential fluid recommendations

I just had my diferential fluids changed the first time and the indy shop told me they put Triton Synthetic 75w-90 for front and tranfer case & 75w-140 for rear diff. Is this okay? I checked the owner's manual and it states 75w-90 for front and rear. will 75w-140 have any negative effect if used in rear?

I just changed mine and used Redline 75W-90 in front and rear diffs and transfer case.

You can use the 75W-140 in the rear but according to the head tech at Redline, it'll work but that's 'overkill' for the 4Runner unless there's constant towing.

You might get slightly lower mileage with the thickness of the 75W-140 the Redline tech said.

BTW, I don't know about the Triton, but the Redline was the most slippery of diff oils I have ever used. Unbelievably slippery.

If rear is LS (Limited Slip) you might have issues. There is a sticker on the pumpkin it'll tell you what to use. 140 weight is to damn thick anyway. Have them change it to correct viscosity.

I did the same last November, been working fantastic. Since I switched to whatever was in there before (not sure because I am the second owner), the truck runs much smoother while doing U-turns and turning in parking lots.

I used the AmsOil as did Koz indicate earlier. Top rated gear lube.
