Synthetic gear oils

OK OK, I've searched around and haven't found much on switching to synthetic gear oils at higher mileages.

I'm sticking with dino oil for the engine, so let us not debate about that.

My question is, would there be any issues switching to synthetic oils in the transfer case and diffs at 108k?

It's the V8 so the full time 4WD, if that matters.

I can't imagine. When I did my first change out at 1 yr (~15k as I wanted to let the system get a good break in w/ dino fluid) I went to synthetic then (Shell Spirax 1,000,000 or something or another).

From what everyone has been saying (and what I've seen) - the gear oils come out pretty clean, albeit smelly. I haven't heard anything about accelerated seal degradation, "chatter" or any other issues with a later gear oil change.

I've done cars (sports cars) at 60-65k w/o problem, with the right synthetic.

So I'd vote that you'd be safe.
