Looking for the best Synthetic oil too use for my 4runner now at 78,000 miles. Any suggestions will help.

HOnestly, I'd go with a high-mileage oil instead. IF you haven't switched and have a lto of miles, seals tend to swell when using mineral oil, and synthetic treats seals totally different. WHen you switch, it's not uncommon to see oil leaks from the seals not swelling any more. It's fine if you plan on changing out the rear main, cam, and front main seals though...

When I bought my 1st gen, I changed the oil with Mobil1, I don't know what was in it before. For about a month I had a VERY slow leak from the front main seal. (2-3 drips a night) It stopped and hasn't leaked in over 6 months. If you're looking for absolutely the best. I'm told Amsoil is very impressive. about 25,000 miles between changes, and costs about $70 a quart. I don't know anyone personally who uses it, so I that's all I know. I always put BG MOA in with my oil changes (call it snake oil if want, but my corolla stopped leaking oil since I started using it, It's been leaking for over 5 years). My local NAPA carries it, sometime parts+ will have it.

Try a full synthetic with high detergency like Penzoil Platinum or even better Penzoil Ultra 10w-30 with a premium extended use oil filter such as Mobil 1, Bosch distance plus, or Fram Extended Guard. They have more dirt holding capacity and better builds than your typical OEM filter.
Check your oil every fill-up for the first 3,000 miles for color. It should not go black until 5,000 miles or more for a clean engine. If it's dark already at 3,000 than that means the high detergents in oil are doing their job nicely and cleaning the internals.
I'd replace filter and oil at 4,000 if it's very dark black in color.
If it's still amber at 4,000 miles then you can replace it at a mileage or months usage of your choosing. I like 7,500 miles or 1 year whichever comes first for a filter and oil change with full synthetic and an extended drain capable oil filter.

Mobil 1 , OEM oil filter , change every 6 months or 7500 miles ( under normal driving conditions ) , whichever occurs first .
