Synthetic Trans Fluid Drain and Fill?

I put a Magnefine filter in the trans cooler line to help out.

I feel ya on that, aeroneer. By the way you've got a great truck. Checked out your build and its very tasteful. I think you guys have convinced me to drop the pan. Any "wish I would've done this instead" advice as far as this little project goes? Are you just using RTV when the pan goes back on? Thanks for all the insight, guys.

Thanks for the complements. So I talked to the Toyota mechanics at my local stealership and they said to just use brake clean on the pan. So that's what I did. But follow the write up closely, and go out of your way to buy one of those stupid white-marker pens to mark all the number around it. It's worth it.

Secondly, if you don't have an inch-lb torque wrench, goooooooo easy. I actually sheared off a pan bolt because I felt they weren't lining up like they should. In hindsight, I think it's because I didn't take enough time to get every little last bit of old gasket off.

I was lucky an easy out with a mini-crescent pulled it right out, but that could be a nightmare if you're not careful. So go easy or use a torque wrench on the pan bolts, and take your time cleaning every last bit of gasket off before applying the new one.

Any reason not to use DEX VI, since it's supposed to replace DEX III?

I've used Dex VI in my runner. It's a synthetic blend so it's good stuff.
