T belt replacement cost?

What are people paying here for T-belt replacements on the 3.4l V6?

I've called 2 places, one of them an independent shop that specializes in Toyotas, the other one a dealer, and both times the estimate was $600+ for the T-belt plus the water pump.

Seems excessive to me. What are other folks hearing?

Any recommendations for shops in the Denver, CO area?

Thanks.

If that includes labor than thats not bad

i needed to have my timing belt replaced but the dealer was charging $700+ plus taxes not including labor cost. nice to have friends though, working at a dealership, he got me sweet deals on all 4 oem belts, water pump, thermostat etc.. and had them all done by a mechanic friend..all in all i ended up spending no more than $600. all replaced as opposed to just the timing belt.

DIY. Parts will cost you about $200 including T-belt, water pump, thermostat and all belts. The only tricky thing is removing crankshaft pulley.

i got quotes between $500-$700 depending on what exactly got changed ie. tensioners, acc belts, etc. obviously the $700 was the whole shebang at a dealer. i dont think it was "too" bad considering it came with a 1 yr warranty

if you take the radiator out, you can get an impact wrench on it, it comes right off. From start to finish, it took me about 5 hours. If i remember correctly i had about $65 in parts.

I went with starter bump option. Working up the courage was the hard part--doing it was easy and no need to pull rad. But it IS tricky. $65 is what, 4 aftermarket belts? No WP, no thermostat, no pulleys? I recommend spending more and get OEM TB, WP, acc. belts and thermostat, minimum. I did these plus pulleys, tensioner and hoses for under $300. Once every ten years is fine with me; I don't want to go back in anytime soon.

my thoughts as well it's why i paid the dealer 700+, for oem parts and trained professionals, i could totally do this myself, just no take backs if i screwed something so i paid more for comfort of mind and pseudo insurance. lol, not something you want to to twice.

Scott, I'm surprised your impact will take off the crankshaft pulley since it's on there with 200+ ft. lbs. of torque. I thought my impact was strong because It'll do my lug nuts w/o me cracking them with a breaker bar 1st, but I don't think mine could do the c.s. pulley. And I don't want to try, at least not for another 10 years - just did my tb/wp a few months ago.
